Ear pain is more common in children. But at any age we can suffer from ear pain. Pain can occur in one or both ears, but is usually more severe in one ear. The earache may be continuous, or it may occur after a while.

Symptoms:

1) Mild or severe pain or burning sensation

2) Heaviness or blockage of ears

3) Less listening

4) Discharge of water, blood or pus from the ear

Symptoms in children include:

1) Restlessness and excessive crying

2) Fever, earache and headache

3) Less response when spoken or called

4) Touching or pulling ears repeatedly

5) Reluctance to eat

Reason:

Infection of the outer ear:

1) Swimming in dirty water

2) Using headphones in the ears

3) Scratching the ear with a cotton bud, stick, chicken feather or finger can damage the skin inside the ear, which then promotes harmful bacterial or fungal infections.

Middle ear infection: Children are more likely to experience pain in their ears due to this. When you have a cold, water accumulates in the middle ear. If not treated at the right time, bacterial infection can cause pus to form inside the ear and cause severe pain.

Inner ear infections: Labyrinthitis can be caused by viral and bacterial infections. It is not commonly seen.

To do:

1) You can take common painkillers like Paracetamol or Ibuprofen. Cold-and-cold nasal decongestant drops can be used along with anti-histamine medications.

2) Don't itch the ear, don't scratch it. Do not clean ears with cotton buds, sticks, or anything else.

3) Be careful not to get water in the ears.

4) Chew gum and swallow repeatedly.

5) You can burn the ear.

6) Inhale the steam of hot water through the nose.

When to consult a doctor?

1) Fever with pain

2) If there is severe pain

3) If the pain does not subside within 24-48 hours

4) If there is a sharp pain in the ear, the pain suddenly subsides. Because, many times, if the screen is burst, the ear pain suddenly decreases.

5) Headache, dizziness, ringing in the ears

6) Blood, pus or water coming out of the ear

7) Swelling or redness around the ear
