Asthma and breathing problems increase in winter

There are more than 40,000 causes of various asthma diseases—one of which is physical factors. That is, asthma is triggered by cold or heat. On the one hand, cold causes the airways in the lungs to constrict. On the other hand, cold causes mast cells to release more histamine and other chemical mediators. These cause the airways in the lungs to constrict.

Masks to prevent viruses: Apart from this, the prevalence of some viruses increases in winter. Among them, flu virus, respiratory syncytial virus, cold virus, rhinovirus are notable. Coronavirus has been linked to this. These viruses cause complex inflammation in the lungs and cause breathing difficulties. The body parts of corona are full of glycoproteins. This is one of the causes of breathing difficulties. Its prevention is vaccines and masks.

Of course, there is no vaccine for all of them. On top of these are chronic bronchitis, emphysema, bronchiectasis, COPD, and chronic pneumonia, all of which cause shortness of breath and worsen in the winter. Without proper treatment, the problem will not go away, but will increase.

Asthma during pregnancy: The incidence of asthma decreases during pregnancy. However, sometimes asthma occurs due to pregnancy. It is a little more in winter. However, more research is needed on this. This type of asthma decreases in the early stages of pregnancy but later. Whatever the cause of asthma, it is necessary to keep the lungs oxygenated to the maximum during pregnancy. In this case, salbutamol inhaler, nebulizer and oxygen can act as safe medicines.

Shortness of breath in heart failure: Shortness of breath does not mean lung disease. When the heart chamber becomes enlarged, water accumulates in the lungs. Just as when the left ventricle of the heart enlarges, shortness of breath occurs, when the right ventricle enlarges, pulmonary hypertension occurs and shortness of breath occurs. Sometimes shortness of breath occurs if there is a congenital hole in the middle wall of the heart. Shortness of breath occurs even if the hemoglobin in the blood decreases. In short, the cause of shortness of breath should be understood and treated.
