Donation of blood means donation of life. Who has not heard this saying. Everyone must have heard this phrase at some point in their life and applied it in real life. Because in an emergency, if blood is given to a needy person who is hanging between life and death due to lack of blood, his life can be saved. But not everyone can donate blood, there are many reasons behind this.

Pierced or tattooed ears: People who have recently pierced or tattooed their nose, ears or any part of their body cannot donate blood. If you also have a permanent makeup treatment, you should wait at least four months before donating blood. Experts say there is a risk of hepatitis virus infection if blood is given immediately after tattoo or makeup treatment.

Sex is also a rule: homosexuals or those in a relationship with a new sexual partner or sex worker are also prohibited from donating blood before 12 months.

Underweight: You cannot donate blood if you weigh less than 49 kg. According to Red Cross rules, a person over 18 years of age must maintain a BMI-weighted weight before he can donate blood.

Those taking antibiotics: You cannot donate blood if you are on a course of antibiotics. Even if you develop an infection within seven days, you will not be considered eligible to donate blood.

These people should also not donate blood: Patients with diabetes and high blood pressure should avoid donating blood. Breastfeeding women should also avoid donating blood. Do not donate blood if you have any blood related diseases like hemophilia etc. People under 18 and over 65 should not donate blood.

Do these things before donating blood: Eat a light meal and sleep well the night before donating blood. Avoid eating fatty food, junk food, ice cream, fried burger, meat and fish. Drink plenty of water before donating blood. Do not drink alcohol the night before donating blood.
