The shoulder is made up of three bones, four joints and thirty muscles. Among the joints in the body, the shoulder joint moves the most.
Apart from getting injured due to various types of sports, accidents etc. in daily life, shoulder injuries are also caused due to some diseases. Again, occupational factors such as painting, cleaning glass, lifting weights, writing on blackboards, working on computers for long periods of time can damage the shoulder in the long term. In addition, older people may experience bone loss due to overuse.
First steps: In case of sudden injury, keep the joint at complete rest. It will reduce cell damage and pain.
Applying ice cubes or
cold water in a cloth or plastic bag for 10 minutes every hour or 20 minutes
every 2 hours will reduce the pain and swelling. This process will last 48 to
72 hours after the injury.
Use of elasto
compression, arm sealing or splinting of the joint reduces swelling and pain.
Painkillers can also
be taken on the advice of a doctor.
Once the pain and swelling subsides, joint flexing and muscle strengthening exercises should be done.
If the twin is dislocated, it should be taken to the hospital immediately.
Treatment: Patients with minor injuries recover with initial treatment. However, in case of long-term damage, the damage and its severity should be determined by understanding the history of the disease and through various tests of the pair. Sometimes X-ray and MRI should be taken. If necessary, see an arthroscopic physician capable or experienced in treating ligament, joint cover and muscle damage, joint displacement, arthritis and extra bone in the joint.
Ligaments and joint
sheaths are sutured with Encore sutures, attached to bone to prevent joint
dislocation.
Determine the shape
and location of the muscle injury and attach it to the bone with sutures using
an Encore suture.
Excess bone shaving
or extraction due to arthritis.
Decompression occurs
when joint space is reduced due to bursitis and arthritis.
Muscle replacement is
sometimes used in severe injuries.
Regular and appropriate
care after primary or surgical treatment should restore the normal condition of
the joint quickly.
