Oral cancer is one of the most common cancers in
other parts of the body. It usually occurs on the lips, gums, tongue, inner
lining of the cheeks, palate, salivary glands and tonsils. Oral cancer rates
are twice as high in men as in women.
Causes: Some
of the risk factors for mouth cancer are:
1) Consuming tobacco products like bean, bidi,
cigarette, white leaf, jorda, gul etc.
2) Excessive alcohol addiction
3) Family history of cancer
4) Malnutrition
5) Prior history of oral cancer
6) Lips exposed to excessive sun
7) HPV is a sexually transmitted virus
8) Weak immunity due to genetic factors
Symptoms:
1) Failure to heal oral ulcers
2) Bleeding in the face
3) Presence of loose teeth and gums in the mouth
4) Sharp teeth
5) Swelling of the tongue, resulting in pain
6) Difficulty or pain in chewing
7) Difficulty in swallowing
8) Weight loss
9) Having red-white spots on the face
Treatment of Oral Cancer: There are different types
of treatment for oral cancer. Oral cancer is treated with surgery, radiotherapy
or chemotherapy.
Surgery: In this case some good cells including
cancer cells are removed.
Chemotherapy: This process usually involves the administration of drugs through injections.
Radiotherapy:
Radiation therapy plays an important role in cancer treatment. In this case,
the dysfunctional cells are destroyed by ultraviolet rays. Apart from this,
cancer patients are advised to eat nutritious food. To save from the horrors of
cancer, it is necessary to understand the symptoms and get treatment quickly.
