If you have a fever, do not put anything else in your mouth. At this time, something should be eaten, which helps to cure the fever besides providing energy to the body. Metabolism increases by 7 percent for every degree increase in temperature. As a result, the energy demand of the body also increases.

At this time, we want nutritious and easily digestible food. Therefore, at this time, food should be kept in the diet, which will help bring back the taste of the mouth along with high calories.

What to eat during fever:

1) Liquid foods can help rehydrate and overcome weakness. Juices especially citrus fruits or sour fruits are the best source of important vitamins and anti-oxidants in the body. Oranges are full of nutrients and vitamins, including immune-boosting vitamin C, gut-friendly and fiber, which helps reduce digestive issues.

2) At this time masala tea, ginger tea, any herbal tea is very beneficial. They have antiviral and antibacterial activity. Lemon, honey, tulsi leaves, mint leaves and cloves mixed with tea help to reduce cold and cough very easily and bring back taste.

3) Protein-rich food (fish, meat, eggs, milk) helps in faster recovery. After a fever, the patient's body needs a lot of energy. Foods like lean meat broths, chicken soups provide much needed nutrients during fever. Another ingredient of soup can be vegetables. Tofu or a little lean meat can be added to increase protein when making vegetable soup for patients recovering from fever. These foods will provide enough energy, fiber and essential minerals. You can also eat soft thin khichuri made with vegetables, rice, pulses.

4) Foods rich in vitamins help to fill the deficiency of nutrients in the body. It also helps to increase the immunity of the body, which is very important after fever. Fresh fruit juice (without sugar), canned water, sugar cane molasses, fresh fruit, fruit smoothies—any form of fruit can provide energy. Fruits contain potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin C and other vitamins. Currant is a very useful fruit, regular consumption of currant during and after fever is beneficial. Apart from this, malta, orange, ripe papaya, banana should be eaten regularly. It is better not to eat fried food, hard or raw food, outside food, milk tea, soft drinks etc. during fever.
