An aberrant cell development is called a tumor. And brain tumor means abnormal growth of human brain cells. There are two types of tissue in the human brain; Neurons and their supporting tissues. The covering of the brain is called 'meninges'. Brain tumors usually arise from supporting tissues, meninges and some glands. Tumors vary by age; For example, some tumors are more common in children, but not in adults.

Types of Brain Tumors: Not all tumors are cancerous. These tumors are of two types; Malignant or cancerous tumors and benign tumors, which are relatively benign. Cancerous tumors can be divided into primary tumors and secondary tumors.

Causes of Brain Tumors: The cause of most brain tumors is unknown. Among the factors that increase the risk of this tumor is hereditary neurofibromatosis. Apart from this, these tumors can also be caused by exposure to chemicals and radiation.

Symptoms: Knowing the symptoms of brain tumor is very important. Almost all brain tumors show some common symptoms. For example –

1) Weakening of any part of the body

2) Headache

3) Convulsions

4) Vomiting (usually in the morning)

5) Vision problems

Behavioral changes: Again, there are some other signs depending on the area of the brain, by which the doctors can understand where the brain tumor has occurred. In children, vomiting, convulsions as well as accumulation of water in the brain, called hydrocephalus. If you have a brain tumor, you have to deal with it consciously without fear. For this reason, it is important to consult a neurosurgeon or the nearest doctor without delay if the symptoms appear.

Treatment: There are different types of treatment for brain tumors. Steroids are the first line of treatment. This will reduce the water around the tumor and reduce the pressure on the brain. Second, anticonvulsants or anticonvulsants are used for seizures. Children are often given VP shunt to connect brain fluid with stomach.
