Asthma: Symptoms may vary from patient to patient

 Asthma is a non-infectious disease of children and adults. Its prevalence is higher in children. Asthma occurs when the small airways of the lungs are inflamed and narrowed.

Misdiagnosis

Inhaler medicines for asthma are essential to prevent an attack of the disease.

Some other respiratory diseases also have symptoms similar to asthma. But in such cases, different treatment is needed. So accurate diagnosis of chronic disease is necessary.

One study found that one in three people diagnosed with asthma did not actually have asthma.

Diseases are misdiagnosed; Because not every patient has the same triggers, not the same symptoms.

The urge to take a nap every two steps may not be a symptom of asthma. Asthma can also start while lying down.

The main causes of asthma are:

1) Tobacco consumption

2) Dust, insects

3) Air pollution

4) Cockroaches

5) Mice

6) Fungi

7) Family history

8) Allergies

9) Some food

10) Professional reasons

11) Major triggers are allergies, airborne particles, air pollution

Symptoms:

1) Sneezing

2) Cough

3) Phlegm

4) Hear sound in the chest

5) Difficulty breathing at night or in the morning

Treatment: These symptoms should be seen by a respiratory medicine specialist.

He will take the patient's history. He can check your blood sugar. A pulmonary function test or PFT may also be done. Medicines to reduce breathing problems are given before and after breathing problems. And to check whether there is a difference in lung function, how much air the patient takes in and how quickly the air is exhaled.

Remember that:

1) Asthma increases during hot summer.

2) If you have asthma, be careful during the change of season.

3) Avoid foods that cause asthma.

4) Be careful of animal hair, carpet dust, insects and moths.

5) Take inhaler with you when going out.

6) Unconventional treatments or tricks can sometimes cause danger.

What to do if your wrist hurts

Many people suffer from wrist pain. In some cases, those who are involved in sports or games that use their hands, may also suffer from wrist injuries.

 That type of injury can cause:

1) Trauma can lead to broken bones, joint damage or ligament injuries.

2) People who work with their hands for long periods of time can develop nerve pain or carpal tunnel syndrome from pressure on a particular nerve in the wrist.

3) People suffering from long-term osteoarthritis may also experience pain or swelling in the wrists.

4) People who carry heavy weights in their hands or do heavy weight lifting while exercising, can get ligament injuries.

To do:

1) Those who work using their wrists for a long time should work with breaks. Especially for those who use the keyboard on the computer, it is better to keep the keyboard close to your waist and at the same time, while operating the keyboard, the elbows should be supported by a chair handle or something else.

2) For those who are suffering from hand pain due to sports, you can immediately soak your hand in ice pack or ice water from the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes. At the same time, all types of exercises using the wrist should be stopped. In case of a sudden injury, the hand may swell, in that case, instead of hanging the hand, you can use the elbow bag to hang the hand along the chest or at the level of the heart.

3) Pain medication can be taken on doctor's advice.

4) Regular wrist stretching exercise and specific wrist movement exercises should be done before hand pain is affected.

5) Especially those who have diabetes and thyroid gland disease, they need to take medicine to control these two diseases.

When a doctor's advice is necessary:

1) If it is impossible to move the hand with pain

2) Numbness is felt along the wrist and fingers

3) There is severe fever at the same time

4) Pain accompanied by external injury and bleeding

Drinking street syrup can cause disease

Dehydration, diarrhea and digestive problems occur during intense heat. Therefore, to stay healthy, while choosing roadside water, drinks and syrups, first of all, it must be confirmed how healthy it is.

Roadside drinks can make you sick: Keep yourself away from unhealthy food such as sorbet, drink, water, juice etc. prepared by the road side. Even though syrups, sugarcane juice, medicinal syrups, tang, lemonade, saline water etc. prepared on the sidewalks and roadsides provide temporary relief from the heat, the number of people suffering from water-borne diseases by drinking these syrups and drinks is not very low.

These sherbets are water-borne such as common wasa water, ice made from wasa water (ice made for fish), adulterated and colored tang, lemon, various fruits, extracts of aloe vera, arjuna, behera, haritaki, saccharin mixed with various things together or separately. Disease, on the other hand various infectious diseases are spreading in the body. For example, hepatitis is one of them. To keep your liver healthy, your liver and blood are getting damaged by eating sugarcane juice sold on the side of the road.

What's good for the body: To get temporary relief from severe burns, you can make ice-cold lemonade, lemon syrup, canned water, bell syrup, watermelon juice, bhangir juice, papaya or raw mango syrup, ripe mango juice, mint-lemon mint lemonade, lachi, Sugarcane molasses and curd-chira sorbet.

They will not only keep you cool in the heat, but also protect you from dehydration and electrolyte imbalance by keeping the water balance in your body. However, your body will benefit more from a smoothie with peel or fiber than thin crystal clear juice. Water helps in regular bowel movements by relieving constipation. Increases immunity, relieves headaches, reduces the tendency to diarrhea and stomach ailments.

Water keeps the blood clean and brightens the skin. The role of water and lemon water is very important in preventing urine infection. And it goes without saying the role of water in keeping the kidneys healthy. Be careful in your choice of drinks to cool off in the heat. Try to work in a shaded and ventilated area as there is a risk of heatstroke in extreme heat. Drink 12 to 13 glasses of water throughout the day, stay healthy.

Brain tumor symptoms appear quickly

 A tumor is an abnormal and uncontrolled growth of any cell in the body. Cancer or tumor can occur in different parts of the body. There are two types of tumors. One is benign and the other is malignant.

Benign tumors are not so harmful. It is completely cured in treatment. What we mean by cancer is malignant tumor. Fortunately, benign brain tumors are more common. But the problem is that the brain has less space, so the tumor can easily affect it. This means that the symptoms appear quickly. As a result, the patient goes to the doctor quickly. So the disease is diagnosed early. Metastasis to the brain can occur, but is rare.

Cause: Brain tumors can occur at any age. It is the second leading cause of cancer in children. But the reason is not known. But some gene mutations can cause it. In addition, radiation can also cause tumors.

Symptoms: The main symptom of brain cancer is headache. However, headache is not a brain tumor or cancer. Most of the causes of headaches are different. Brain tumor headaches are a little different. The headache is constant, with mild or moderate pain throughout the head. Sneezing and coughing increase the headache. The pain is worse on waking up in the morning. Vomiting may occur with headache. Some symptoms may occur depending on the location of the tumor. For example, a tumor in the front of the brain can cause behavioral abnormalities, sudden anger, and attention deficit. Symptoms may include gradual paralysis of one side of the body, vision problems, walking problems, imbalance, speech problems, seizures, hearing problems, etc.

Tests: A CT scan or MRI of the brain is the most important along with a physical exam to diagnose a tumor. Apart from this some more tests are required.

Treatment: Tumor is nothing to fear. This disease can be cured if the symptoms are treated quickly. Treatment options for brain tumors include medical treatment, surgery, radiotherapy and in some cases chemotherapy. The main treatment for brain tumors is surgery. There are some tumors, which are quite small in size, that can be completely cured by medication alone. And if the doctor asks for an operation, then it is better to do the operation without undue delay.

If a diabetic patient has dengue

Image collected

The number of dengue patients is increasing day by day. People with diabetes should take special precautions if they get dengue.

Possible symptoms of dengue:

* Sudden high fever

* Headache

* Pain behind eyes

* Muscle pain

* Weakness

* Nausea

* Red spots/rash on the body

* Bleeding from the nose, mouth or gums

* Sore throat

* Cold, cough

Diabetic patients who are at risk for febrile conditions:

* Reduced hypoglycemia or diabetes

* Dehydration

* Production of chemicals called ketone bodies in the body

Diabetic patients with fever should:

* Drink plenty of water or liquid food to prevent dehydration.

* If blood sugar is high, you can have low calorie syrup or syrup without sugar. Canned water can be consumed. Sugary syrups can also be consumed if the blood sugar decreases.

* Excessive exercise and walking should be avoided during fever.

* Diabetic patients should continue with normal diet. Eat small meals every three to four hours so that diabetes does not increase too much. Don't let it go down again.

* If blood sugar is high, sweet fruits (eg mango/jackfruit/malta) should be avoided or consumed in moderation. If necessary, the dose of insulin or medication should be readjusted.

Diabetes Test: Blood sugar should be tested every six hours. If the blood sugar is more than 14 millimoles, then more frequent testing should be done.

Medicines and insulin levels:

* The insulin dose may need to be re-adjusted, those who used to take insulin twice a day may need to take insulin three times a day depending on the blood sugar level.

* For those taking oral medications, their dosage may need to be increased or decreased depending on blood sugar levels. Metformin should be discontinued if anorexia or diarrhea occurs.

When to consult a doctor:

* Vomiting (if diarrhea lasts more than six hours)

* If blood sugar is more than 14 mmol/L

* If there are ketone bodies in the urine

* If you have symptoms of diabetic keto acidosis such as shortness of breath, abdominal pain, dehydration

* When blood sugar drops too much

* If there is any other disease of kidney, heart, liver

* If unable to take any food.

Know the causes of eye allergies

Image collected

An allergy is an abnormal reaction of the body to an innocuous substance. By allergy we mean body allergy. But like body allergy, eye allergy also occurs. Allergy is a very common eye disease. Eye allergies can range from mild to severe. This disease can occur at any age from childhood to old age. The symptoms of this disease are usually itchy eyes, watery eyes, photophobia, red eyes etc.

The symptoms cause a lot of distress even if the vision is not disturbed in the initial stage. The symptoms of this disease are more or less with the change of season. Serious complications can occur in cases of long-standing disease. Such as visual disturbances, macular opacities, high eye pressure and eyelid deformities.

Causes of Allergy: Environmental factors are the main cause of eye allergy. But there is definitely an influence of heredity. Due to which some are affected and some are not affected due to being in the same environment. Those that cause this abnormal reaction in the eyes on contact are called allergens. There are about 800 types of allergens in nature. Allergens are generally of two types – external and internal. External allergens are the main cause of allergies. Internal allergens include – bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections. External allergens are generally of four types. Allergens that enter the body through inhalation include – pollen from flowers or grass, house or street dust, animal dander, etc. Allergens that enter the body through food include - beef, duck eggs, hilsa fish, shrimp, eggplant, etc. Drugs that cause eye allergies include - drugs like gentamicin and neomycin. Apart from this, many people use cosmetics and kajal to enhance the beauty of eyes. Because of this there is an irritating disease like allergy in the eyes. Many insect bites can also cause eye allergies. Many people are allergic to extreme cold and extreme heat.

Types of Allergies:

Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.

Chronic allergic conjunctivitis.

Atopic keratoconjunctivitis.

Atopic blepharoconjunctivitis.

Vernal keratoconjunctivitis.

Giant papillary conjunctivitis.

Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis is the most familiar allergy. Its effect is usually seen in spring. It is usually less complicated. Itchy eyes may be accompanied by a runny nose and some coughing. With the end of spring, the symptoms gradually subside. Perineal allergic conjunctivitis occurs all year round. But the symptoms are more or less. Atopic keratoconjunctivitis (Atopic kerato-conjunctivitis) is commonly associated with skin inflammation, eczema and asthma. The complications of this disease are very high. This disease can cause opacity of the lens and cataract, which is one of the causes of blindness. Vernal kerato-conjunctivitis usually occurs in children and adolescents and boys are more affected. After the age of fourteen the symptoms gradually subside. But if the condition is not treated in time, it can lead to permanent amblyopia, due to which vision never returns to normal. Children with eye allergies should be under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. Many a times it is seen, the hammer has been using steroid drugs for a long time on the advice of doctors or inexperienced doctors. This causes high pressure in the eye (glaucoma), another cause of permanent blindness. Therefore, in no case should you use steroids without the advice of a specialist doctor.

Treatment and Remedies: Remedies are key in treating allergies. One thing we should keep in mind, the above mentioned allergens may not apply to everyone. Different allergens are responsible for different people. Let's say, one person is allergic to beef, another is allergic to hilsa fish. So the sufferer has to figure out what the allergy is. Accordingly, the responsible material should be eliminated. Sunglasses should be used to protect from dust. Stay away from flower molecules.

What is the treatment for OCD?

Image collected

Let's learn about the symptoms, causes and treatment of OCD from Dr. Fatema Zohra, assistant professor of psychiatry at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) or Shuchibai disease is a type of mental illness. People with this disorder get stuck in a cycle of irrational obsessions (repetition of futile thoughts) and compulsive behavior (an overwhelming desire to act on those thoughts).

OCD can happen to anyone, woman, man or child Symptoms of OCD can appear in a person from the age of 6 However, it is often seen in adolescents and adults.

Symptoms of OCD: Symptoms or obsessions that are commonly seen in people with OCD are:

Unreasonable fearful thoughts of harming oneself or others.

Recurring unnecessary thoughts that there are germs or dirt on the body, clothes or furniture

Sexual obsession. For example, forbidden and distorted sexual thoughts, fantasies or emotions.

Doing the same thing over and over again. For example, repeating such thoughts whether the gas is turned off or the door is locked. Frequent washing or cleaning of hands for fear of germs and contamination

Causes of OCD: It is not yet clear what causes OCD This can be due to various reasons. For example, if someone in the family is affected by OCD, there may be a risk of OCD in the next generation OCD can also be hereditary.

Some people with OCD have abnormally high activity or low levels of a chemical called serotonin in the brain OCD can also be caused by changes in serotonin or dopamine. Excessive drug or stimulant use can also act as a secondary cause of OCD.

OCD can also be an early symptom of certain mental illnesses For example, OCD can occur in the early stages of schizophrenia. OCD symptoms often appear during pregnancy. Others may develop OCD after a significant life event. For example: child birth or child death.

Cure or treat OCD

Just as other physical diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure can be controlled through treatment, OCD can also be controlled through treatment.

Its treatment is usually of 2 types. Better results are obtained when the 2 types of treatment are applied together.

1. Psychological: Cognitive behavior therapy is very useful in psychological treatment. Here the wrong thoughts of the patient are worked on. In particular, attempts are made to restructure negative thoughts, strong beliefs, etc.

2. Pharmacological: In this case, the patient is treated with pharmaco therapy or medicine. There is a saying, "Words do not burn the grass". So patients expect some medicine. In fact, some anti-depressants are very helpful for Shuchibai patients.

OCD patients may also have anxiety disorders and depressive disorders at the same time. So taking some medicine along with counseling along with doctor's advice can give good results.

Some tips for OCD sufferers: Practice relaxation techniques regularly. Yoga, pranayama, meditation, deep-breathing are effective in reducing anxiety and stress in these patients. Adequate sleep and exercise should be practiced. Alcohol and nicotine must be avoided. If treated properly for at least 6 months, many recover completely. In some, the disease may return after many days. Some get recurrent attacks and need to be normal with treatment.

Donation of blood means donation of life. Who has not heard this saying. Everyone must have heard this phrase at some point in their life and applied it in real life. Because in an emergency, if blood is given to a needy person who is hanging between life and death due to lack of blood, his life can be saved. But not everyone can donate blood, there are many reasons behind this.

Statistics show that only one in thirty people are eligible to donate blood. If you are also thinking of donating blood, then let's know who can donate blood and who can't?

Pierced or tattooed ears: People who have recently pierced or tattooed their nose, ears or any part of their body cannot donate blood. Foods that are unknowingly aging

Image collected

Age increases according to the rules of nature. Animals cannot hold him. But no one wants the impression of age to fall on the face or hair. But the changing climate, excess pollution, massive irregularity in eating and drinking affects the skin. Due to these reasons, the impression of old age is falling on the face without wanting.

There are some foods that are aging you without wanting to, know what they are:

Jhal-spicy food: If you don't add more jhal and spices in cooking, many people don't like food again. Spicy food but dilates the blood vessels. Eating too much salt can also tear blood vessels. Due to this, purple spots start to appear on the skin. These symptoms start to appear in the body earlier if you eat more Jhal.

Soda, soft drinks and energy drinks: The more you consume these types of drinks, the faster the cells in your tissues will age. Because these drinks are high in calories and sugar. This drink combines with oral bacteria to form an acid that erodes tooth enamel. These drinks also lead to weight gain and a higher risk of stroke and dementia.

Drinking alcohol: This habit is not only bad for the liver but also damages the skin due to this habit. Drinking alcohol causes water deficiency in the body. Regular drinking increases the problem of dehydration. As a result, the skin begins to show signs of aging.

Processed meats: Bacon, sausages, hams contain excessive amounts of salt and chemicals due to long storage. If they are in excess, the risk of heart disease, diabetes and stroke increases.

Foods rich in gluten: Foods rich in gluten can make you age. These foods (mainly bread, bread, pasta, cakes, chips, sauces, beer) should not be eaten in excess. If consumed in excess, pimples and rashes may appear on the cheeks and forehead. A gluten allergy can also cause a skin rash.

Dengue awareness and what to do

Image collected

Dengue or Dengue Aedes is a monsoon disease caused by the mosquito-borne dengue virus. The virus is transmitted to humans through the bite of the Aedes mosquito. Symptoms of dengue fever usually appear between three and fifteen days after infection. Common symptoms are high fever, headache, muscle and joint pain and skin rash, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting or bleeding from the nose and mouth, bleeding in the urine and stool, irregular bowel movements, bleeding under the skin (which may look like a bruise). , rapid breathing, fatigue, irritability, restlessness.

If these symptoms appear in the body, a medical specialist should be consulted without delay. Some dengue patients may not show any symptoms. With proper treatment it is possible to cure this disease at home. Only in special cases does the patient need to be hospitalized.

The patient has to be completely rested and even normal activities cannot be done. A cannula connection should be established in the patient's hand as per the advice of the specialist doctor and saline should be given frequently in the vein of the patient. Paracetamol and gastritis medicine should be taken as needed. At least 3 liters of Orsaline-mixed water should be taken orally daily. As supplementary papaya leaf juice, ripe papaya, malta juice, canned water, dragon fruit, lemon syrup should be fed to the patient in large quantities. Under no circumstances should any painkillers and antibiotics be given other than paracetamol. It can be counterproductive. Pomegranate increases the amount of platelets (clot-forming cells) in the blood, but also causes constipation. The patient's stool should not be allowed to harden. There is a possibility of bleeding if the patient tries to defecate by straining. The patient is nauseated, all food smells like a jaundiced patient and the patient wants to vomit repeatedly. Vomiting more than three times a day should be given as per the advice of specialist doctor.

Despite this, it will take 7 days for the patient's fever to subside. Third, fourth, fifth day is very risky. The platelet count may decrease day by day. Pressure may decrease. Under no circumstances should the pressure be allowed to drop.

A normal healthy adult has a platelet count of 150,000 to 450,000 platelets per microliter of blood. The number of high-risk dengue-infected patients may drop below 20,000. This is when the risk of bleeding is highest. The dengue virus damages the blood vessels in the human body. As a result, holes are formed in the blood vessels. The number of platelets in the bloodstream decreases. This can cause shock to the human body, bleeding from different parts of the body, damage to any organ and finally death of the patient. The patient's liver function may decrease, the amount of SGPT in the blood may increase.

If any of the serious symptoms appear in the patient's body, one should contact the doctor immediately without panicking. In many cases the platelet count changes rapidly. Platelet transfusion is required only when the platelet count is low and signs of bleeding appear. As the infection subsides, the patient's platelet count naturally increases and SGPT begins to decrease. For this reason, it is necessary to consume food rich in vitamin 'C', vitamin 'E', vitamin 'K', folate and potassium. After seven days the fever started to subside.

After the dengue fever subsided, the real disaster began. This is called the critical period. The next three days after the fever subsides, one should be very careful. At this time, severe side effects of dengue-related blood loss, pressure drop, itching, rashes on the body can be seen in various parts of the body. Usually these problems resolve automatically after three to four days. Extra care should also be taken when disconnecting the cannula to administer saline.

Dengue fever is a common disease but can be fatal if neglected. Its prevalence is higher in urban areas. So the city dwellers have to be more alert and aware. Especially those who have dengue should be extra careful. A second dengue infection can be fatal.

Foods that have more calcium than milk

Image collected

It is well known that milk is a very good source of calcium. Calcium is an essential element for people of all ages. Deficiency of calcium in the body leads to weak bones.

It can also cause problems like dry skin, brittle nails, eczema, skin inflammation, itchy skin and psoriasis. Milk is not the only source of calcium deficiency in the body. There are foods that contain more calcium than milk. A report by the Indian media "Times of India" has informed about some such food. For example-

Tofu: Tofu is low in fat, high in protein. Cholesterol-free and calcium-rich tofu can be easily consumed by vegetarians.

Yogurt: Like milk, yogurt is a good source of calcium. Yogurt contains more calcium than the same amount of milk.

Orange juice: If you don't like to drink milk, you can drink orange juice to meet the deficiency of calcium in the body.

Oat Milk: Like almond milk, oat milk is rich in calcium.

Cheese: An ounce and a half of cheese contains more calcium than a glass of milk.

Sardine fish: Rich in omega three fatty acids, sardine fish plays a role in keeping the heart, brain, eyes and other body organs healthy. This fish is also a good source of calcium.

Seeds: Pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and sunflower seeds contain more calcium than milk.

Eye disease in children causes ROP, what to do

Image collected

A serious eye disease is retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Babies born prematurely (premature babies) can suffer from it and lose their vision. The disease occurs when blood vessels in the developing retina and the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye grow abnormally. ROP usually occurs in babies born before 31 weeks of pregnancy or babies weighing less than 1.5 kg at birth.

ROP can occur due to the use of high-dose oxygen therapy in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Therefore, these premature babies should be referred to an ophthalmologist or pediatric ophthalmologist within 21 to 30 days of birth.

Cause: The exact cause of ROP is not fully understood, but it is thought to be related to disruption of normal retinal vascularization. An ophthalmologist will assess the severity of ROP based on the presence and extent of abnormal blood vessel growth.

Treatment: Treatment of ROP depends on the severity. Severe cases require treatment to prevent vision loss or blindness. ROP is treated with laser therapy and cryotherapy. These two therapies are used to destroy abnormal blood vessels and promote the growth of healthy blood vessels. However, ROP resolves spontaneously unless severe.

Prevention:

Prenatal Care: Pregnant mothers should take adequate care. This reduces the risk of premature birth, thereby reducing the risk of ROP.

Oxygen therapy management: Close monitoring and control of oxygen levels in premature infants can prevent excessive oxygen exposure. Excessive oxygen exposure is one of the causes of ROP.

Eye screening: Regular eye exams by an ophthalmologist can detect ROP at an early stage. It is possible to start treatment on time.

Nutritional requirements: Adequate nutrition must be provided with breast milk or special formula. Breast milk or special formula can contribute to the baby's good health and development. May reduce the potential risk and severity of ROP.

Remember, ROP is a complex condition. Its treatment and prevention strategies can vary depending on various factors. So must consult neonatologist and ophthalmologist.

Important lifestyle changes to prevent high blood pressure
